I hear lots of complaints about this... But I dont hear any suggestions of how to resolve it. and you cant tell the entire community to 'behave'.. just accept the fact that there will always be this problem.
So the REAL problem is people feel they HAVE to team with other human players!!
why?..
Because Henchmen are rubbish?...
nonsense I say..
LEARN HOW HENCHMEN PLAY... once you take the time to study the moves they use, the patterns they follow.. and most important, the CORRECT combination of henchmen..you be very suprised how good they actually are!
I have a friend who has NEVER played the game before retail and prefers to play solo.. he has gone through nearly ALL the missions and main quests in the game with JUST henchmen... (and occasionally a snowman)
So it really annoys me when people complain about the community, its just a sign that your too lazy to spend time learning how to play solo.
And if you absoloutly, positivly MUST play with real players... then, well I'm sorry but thats your problem, and its your CHOICE to find, organise and get to know a decent guild or collection of friends or like-minded people.
Stop complaining about bad experiences with the community... its like complaining about the weather, or pissing into the wind. - Its almost as if people are scratching around for something to complain about and this is the best they can come up with.

Your statement and conclusion are contradicting each other. You're telling people to accept the fact that they can't change the community, but you're telling everyone to stop complaining... Very smart remark there.

Statement: You can't change the way people behave. (They complain)
Conclusion: Stop complaining. (I'm trying to change you)

But the complaining is part of the community so he's trying to change it anyway even though he's telling everyone they can't.

While you two run around in circles, I'm just going to say
I know, how dare he vent his problem and ask for help on a forum board? Where's the rational in that?

Aye, but its two diferent communitys. (GW, GWG)
He is telling the people here the truth, no matter what you do you cant change it. Then he states his opinon that they should just stop complaining.
I understand what you mean, I just see no problem in what he said.
EDIT: First of all nether of us said "how dare he", read before you post.
secondly, why did you feel the need to post this, flame bait?

Heh, quick forum quip- why did everyone feel the need to respond :P
On topic though- Snowman- I can see why you'd say that but I can't say I agree with your reasonings. Guild wars is setup at every facet of the game to be one of human involvement, partying, guild recruitment and community. In fact, you cannot get through the entire game on henchmen, particularly the end content (of RP)- henchmen are more just "fillers" for that time when it's damn impossible to find a healer/warrior/mage/whatever tickles your fancy for a filler.
So I can see you saying that no one is suggesting means with which to resolve these problems, and in response to all the "tell everyone off, request a few thousand people to adhere to your ideas of moral guidelines" remarks, you must all have been drastically lucky (and brave!) when you claim to have accomplished this. Usually it would only be a means of feeding the fire(storm) as there are currently no repurcussions for spammers (that i'm aware of!).
So yeah, I've tried to suggest a few alternatives (LFG channel), a method of reporting abusive/spamming players to the GMs (even if it is confined to the website) and having sufficient action taken against them more as a preventative means than anything else.
Then there's always the possibility of meeting stones, a means of allocating equal level players to a group, ensuring the necessary (Read: warrior and monk) professions are filled, and then filtering out if a match can't be found...these sorts of ideas are what we need to be putting together (preferably in a cohesive manner).

Lazy...learn to play....solo...
Antisocial is an admirable quality...why? An antisocial person contributes zero to a team-based game.

No, it just irritates me when someone needs to get something off his chest and bitch about something and is greeted with a big ol "Can't change it, so shut up."
He made it quite clear that he was going to say what he did say by the title. It didn't mislead at all, so let him bitch.
And actualy, my comment was directed to Snowman. The you and Davey one was just meant to poke a little fun at your conversation. Re-reading it I can definatly see my mistake there.

What?....................
I like to party with people, and I could say there your lazy to not "get over" yourself and play the game the way it was meant to be.
P.S. If this was a poor atempted at humor, I sorry for posting. I am currently out of smokes, and I NEED MY MARLBORO.
EDIT: Well then I am sorry for being so snapy, I think Ill head to the store right quick and get my cigs.

The game was meant to be played solo, with minions? Sorry, that conclusion is not only unsupported, but downright silly.

I think he means that the argument that your supposed to party with people cuz it's an on-line game and they made it that way can be counter-acted with your supposed to play this game solo because they put the henchman in.
Not to put words in your mouth Manderlock, but I think that's what you were getting at?

There are many players who consider GW the 'would-be-Diablo 3'. Because its from the creators of diablo 2 and starcraft. This explains why many functions from those games are to be found back in GW. PvP is quick like in starcraft: Hush, hush, hush, join a team an gogogo! Stuck in the game? Do the same as in D2 for getting to a new act: join a team just for that occasion and than move on. Its an illusion to expect players to join a team or even a Guild just because this game is supposed to be a team game
Best solution for those who like teamplaying is to do it with friends you allready know. I've also thought of making a list of players who like to be in a Guild where everyone is willing to help, without the obligation to teamup. Problem is that this only works fine on the international server (because people reading these forums come from everywhere). If enough people are serious in this it would be worth a try

Aye, its an online game, and to me that means to play with other people. To you might not, but dont call me *lazy* for playing the game the way I feel it should be.

Ah, I see the problem. Bone White Haze is responding to a quote from Snowman, and Manderlock thought BWH had said the quote to begin with, about being lazy.
Gotcha. BWH, if you use the quote button instead of quick reply, this thing can be avoided before it starts.
